Our Business Philosophy:

Alan Dove Photography first commenced operation in 1997.

When we established our first studio in the old dining room of what was once the Excelsior Hotel in Dowling Street Dunedin we were totally passionate about serving our clients with the highest quality commercial, portrait and wedding photography possible. And nothing's changed today, we still are.

From our first days of operation we vowed only to produce the best quality images possible. Visually powerful, emotionally rich, artistically unique and technically cool, we feel the quality of the work speaks for itself.

Alans quietly confident nature, playful humour, genuine love of people and intense passion for stunning people photography endear him well to all he meets. Clients often reflect how relaxed Alan has made them during their photography sitting.

This he feels is one of the more critical elements to obtaining strong, natural memorable portraits.

Compromise wasn't a word in our business vocabulary back in 1997 and it still isn't now. Our ever-growing list of clients realise and appreciate this. People come expecting the best, and we always give them the best, it's our guarantee!

Extremely Short Bio:

Alan Dove has been serving clients as a professional photographer for 16 years. Before that he worked as an electronics technician, but that's another story.

Like many kiwis, Alan worked and travelled on his OE, and it was while he was on an extended trip hitch-hiking from Europe to Thailand via the Indian sub-continent he caught the photographers bug. A year spent training at a small but excellent specialist School in Melbourne helped him  to up-skill and head him towards his new found vocation. As they say, the rest is history. Hopefully you've enjoyed the imagery on this web-site and experienced a little of that 'history'.

When not working Alan  loves to spend time hanging-out with his young family, listening to music, occasionally trying to play it himself, cycling and loves skiing in the winter and camping in the summer.

Master Photographer of the New Zealand Institute

of Professional Photographers (NZIPP)

As a fully qualified master photographer of the NZIPP you can be assured that our work is of the highest standard.

NZIPP members, are obliged to follow fair and professional business practices and to be totally service orientated. Its members are entitled to join support networks offering them opportunities for further training in all fields of professional photography. Membership to the NZIPP is not automatic, but has to be gained through submitting a portfolio of their best work to be judged by their peers.

We take continued professional development seriously, realising that to offer our clients the best we must keep up with the latest in technological, artistic and service-focused trends.

We're constantly reviewing our work and service practices. Our clients are comfortable in the knowledge that as their photographer is a NZIPP member they are getting the best.

Annually we enter the coveted NZIPP professional print awards and every year we proudly walk away with silver, bronze and occasional gold awards. The kudos surrounding winning any award is extremely high amongst NZ and Australian professional photographers.

Two highlights we must tell you about now though:

June 2002: Winners of the esteemed Anne Geddes Champion print award at the NZ Professional Photography Awards.

May 2004: We had the pleasure of winning the

'International Photographer of the Year' Award at the Australian professional print-judging competitions.
